Just install the battery and it works. The kickstand or magnet is used to prop up the unit or stick it to a metallic structure. Has only one button, which is to change temperature scales or reset the device. Is working fine in my safe for a week now. No issues. Highly recommended..

This is the best device I have seen to monitor humidity/temperature in my Liberty Fat Boy Extreme Safe. It is small enough to fit anywhere and large enough to read withiut my glasses! Another greast job by Liberty!

I bought 2 of these one for inside .. one for outside. they seem to work great. the humidity level inside the safe is quite a bit lower than the outside with 1 peet dehumidifier and 1 rod dehumidifier. well pleased with product !!
